A steel or cast iron insert turns a drafty open fireplace into an efficient heater, with a liner and a surround that fit neatly.
An open fireplace is beautiful but not very efficient. Most of its heat goes up the chimney and it pulls warm air out of the house to feed the fire. An insert is a closed, glass-fronted firebox that slides into the existing opening and burns wood, gas or pellets far more efficiently. It gives you the same flame with much more warmth in the room.
Installing an insert is more than sliding it in. The flue has to be lined with a pipe that matches the insert, the connection must be tight and the surround has to cover the gap between the insert and the old opening. We handle all of it. We inspect the chimney, choose a fuel type with you, install the insert and the liner and finish with a neat trim.
Wood inserts give real flame and the most heat for the least fuel cost. Gas inserts are clean and easy to switch on. Pellet inserts are steady and controllable. We help you choose.
Most inserts need a liner running from the insert to the top of the chimney. It keeps smoke inside, improves draft and makes cleaning easier.
A surround panel fills the gap around the insert so the opening looks finished. It comes in several finishes and sizes.
Many inserts have a blower to push heat into the room. We place controls where they are easy to reach.
